The first weekend of August is going to be one to remember for some lucky Federated customers as they experience the first ever “Federated Ironman 55 Dream Weekend” in St. Louis.  This one-of-kind experience will feature a major league baseball game, the inaugural Federated Auto Parts World of Outlaws “Ironman 55” race and a personal dirt track driving experience.

“At Federated, we are always looking for ways to thank our customers for their business and loyalty, and that is why we created this unique experience,” said Phil Moore, senior vice president for Federated. “We know this will be a very memorable experience for the lucky winners.”

The all-expense paid weekend in St. Louis will begin on Friday, Aug. 3 with a major league baseball game featuring the world champion St. Louis Cardinals hosting their arch rivals, the Milwaukee Brewers, at beautiful Busch Stadium in downtown St, Louis.

On Saturday, Aug. 4, the second day of the dream weekend will showcase four dirt track races at the newly named Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo.  In addition to watching the Federated dirt track car, driven by Federated spokesperson Ken Schrader, in action, the contest winners will also get to see the first-ever Federated Auto Parts World of Outlaws “Ironman 55,” the most challenging and grueling race on the World of Outlaws circuit.

The dream weekend will conclude on Sunday, Aug. 5 back at the Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 with a dirt track driving experience taught by the king of dirt, Schrader. The winners will get behind the wheel of one of Schrader’s dirt cars and will learn the dirt track racing ropes from the master.

“We have put together some great promotions and trips for our customers in the past and we feel that the ‘Federated Ironman 55 Dream Weekend’ will be the best event ever,” said Moore. “We can’t thank our customers enough for their continued support and commitment to Federated and we hope this weekend shows how much we appreciate them.”

Comebacks are a hot topic today. You need to track
all comebacks, determine the reason (tech error, part error, training issue,
other) and then calculate the true cost of the comeback.
Here are a few things to consider:
• The loss of time when performing the comeback; time that the tech can use to
perform other work and generate profit;
• The misc costs, such as overhead costs, supplies, cleaners, etc.;
• Towing costs, rental, etc.;
• Cost to morale;
• Reputation damage; and
• Reduction to your profit margin.
For every part issue, you need to
inform your supplier. Sit down with suppliers on a regular basis. Don’t return defective
parts until you have listed the parts, and maintain a report. Document
everything.
Part issues are increasing. Every shop
owner I speak to is frustrated over this.
Remember, comebacks kill your bottom
line. The more comebacks you have, the more they’re killing your profits.
