Rotary Lift Introduces LED Light Kit for the Y-Lift

Rotary Lift introduces an LED lighting system for its award-winning Y-Lift alignment and general service lifts. The lighting system frees technicians’ hands and properly illuminates the work area to further improve productivity.

The Y-Lift is a drive-on lift that uses a patented design and unique Y-shaped legs to provide up to 50 percent faster rise times than scissor lifts. It also gives technicians 20 percent more clear workspace — or Yspace — for a considerable improvement in efficiency.

The Y-Lift has been third-party tested by ETL and ALI certified to meet ANSI safety and performance standards. It is made in the U.S.A.

The new lighting kit includes two 140-inch strips of white LED lights to be attached to the inside of the Y-Lift’s runways. LED lights provide crisp, white light without shadows and are more energy-efficient than other types of lighting. LED lights are also more durable and have longer life than other shop lighting options. If one LED does burn out, the others will remain lit.

“Rotary Lift has offered a variety of lighting kits for our certified lifts for years,” says Ron Lainhart, Rotary Lift parts and service manager. “Being able to easily light the entire vehicle undercarriage with the flip of a switch makes a technician’s job easier and helps improve productivity. We’re pleased to offer this productivity-enhancing upgrade to the Y-Lift.”

The LED lighting kit (part number Z100016BK) can be ordered with a new Y-Lift or easily retrofitted to a lift that is already in service.

The Y-Lift was designed for vehicle alignments (model YA12) and general service work (model Y12). It accommodates a greater wheelbase range than any other alignment lift, and is the only lift that enables technicians to perform four-wheel alignments on cars with wheelbases as short as 71-1/2 inches, such as the smart fortwo. Its compact footprint and true vertical movement make it a fitting choice for smaller service bays. The YA12 is compatible with all leading alignment instrumentation, including new 3D and camera wheel alignment systems. Capacity is 12,000 lbs.

Comebacks are a hot topic today. You need to track
all comebacks, determine the reason (tech error, part error, training issue,
other) and then calculate the true cost of the comeback.
Here are a few things to consider:
• The loss of time when performing the comeback; time that the tech can use to
perform other work and generate profit;
• The misc costs, such as overhead costs, supplies, cleaners, etc.;
• Towing costs, rental, etc.;
• Cost to morale;
• Reputation damage; and
• Reduction to your profit margin.
For every part issue, you need to
inform your supplier. Sit down with suppliers on a regular basis. Don’t return defective
parts until you have listed the parts, and maintain a report. Document
everything.
Part issues are increasing. Every shop
owner I speak to is frustrated over this.
Remember, comebacks kill your bottom
line. The more comebacks you have, the more they’re killing your profits.
