Payroll can become a confusing topic for shop owners. As the business grows a sharp owner needs to stay on top of this area to avoid liabilities for the business. There is a lot you deal with when it comes to employees and keeping them responsible to do a good job is key. But when dealing with employees a lot can come up. Knowing what you can and can’t do when it comes to this area and the best way to address situations before they come up is a must for any shop owner to understand because it puts them in the driver seat.
In a class presented by Jim Saeli on Thursday September 14 at the DRIVE EXPO, Saeli taught shop owners the best practices when it comes to paying their employees.
There is a right way to handle this area and a wrong way. Doing it wrong can cost an owner a lot of money and aggravation. Knowing how to handle a situation like employees that want to borrow money, or the right thing to do when they damage something, or vacation pay are a part of it all.
“When I was a shop owner and dealing with the shop there was a lot of unknowns for me in the area of payroll,” Saeli said. “I kept it simple but later on found out that I was doing things wrong not even realizing it. This is why I love teaching this class giving shop owners the tools needed to become informed and confident in this important area of their business,” Saeli added.
