MACS To Hold Program On Servicing Refrigerant Recovery And Recycling Machines At January Training Event

Shop owners and technicians with questions on how to service and repair a refrigerant recovery and recycling machine can have them answered on Friday, Jan. 17 at the MACS Training Event and Trade Show. All the major refrigerant recovery and recycling machine manufacturers will display their products at their booths and also provide a special focused presentation highlighting tips and tricks for maintenance and service of their products.

2014 ASE Certification Testing Schedule Announced

The 2014 National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification testing schedule has been announced. Winter registration is taking place now through Feb. 21. Winter testing takes place through Feb. 28. Register now on the ASE website.

University Of The Aftermarket Foundation Public Service Announcements Hit The Airwaves

The popular television shows “Two Guys Garage” and “Truck U” will air public service announcements promoting the virtues of education and the availability of scholarships for those seeking a career in the auto care industry. The public service announcements were produced for the University of the Aftermarket Foundation by Brenton Productions, producers of “Two Guys Garage” and “Truck U” and began airing Jan. 4.

Automotive Aftermarket Task Force Announces Copper Free Brake Pad Informational Website

A collaborative task force of automotive aftermarket associations and leadership representing brake pad manufacturers, distributors, retailers, dealerships and service providers has announced the launch of an informational website to provide assistance to the vehicle repair industry in complying with the “better brake laws” enacted in California and Washington State. These laws were designed to significantly reduce the amount of copper, cadmium, chromium VI, mercury, lead and abestiform fibers contained in brake pads sold in those states beginning in 2014.

Federated And KOI To Host 54th Annual Cavalcade Of Customs In Cincinnati

Federated and its long time member KOI Auto Parts are partnering again to host the 54th annual Cavalcade of Customs and Training Expo in Cincinnati, OH, Jan. 10-12 at the Duke Energy Convention Center. Federated and KOI suppliers will have vendor booths on site during the three-day event. The training sessions will feature 28 different classes conducted at various times for a total of 84 available courses.

ASA Announces Dates, Location For 2014 Business Meeting

The Automotive Service Association (ASA) will hold its next annual business meeting March 6 at The Sheraton Overland Park in Overland Park, KS. The meeting coincides with the Vision Expo, an annual education and trade show event hosted by ASA’s affiliated association, ASA-Midwest.

Shop Owner Elected 2014 NASTF Chair

Allen Pennebaker, owner of Orinda Motors of Orinda, CA, has been elected 2014 chair of the NASTF board of directors, the first independent shop owner chair of NASTF since its founding in 2000. Pennebaker has served on the NASTF Board for many years as a representative of the Automotive Service Council of California.

Federated Members Help Make It A Happy Holiday With Toys For Tots Activities

A recent donation of $145,000 to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation was not the end of the Federated Toys for Tots campaign for 2013; it was just the beginning. Many Federated members are collecting contributions and toys at their store locations for Toys for Tots while others are conducting contests for customers as a way to thank them for their donations to the campaign.
