Local Shop Owner And Co-Host Of ‘All Girls Garage’ To Keynote Phoenix Area Automotive Training Event

The SERVICE-EDU Avondale event kicks off from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 29, with dinner, orientation, networking and Bogi Lateiner's keynote presentation, "Not Your Father's Auto Shop."

Bogi Lateiner, a master mechanic and owner of the award winning auto repair shop 180 Degrees Automotive in Phoenix, will provide the keynote address for the April 29-30 SERVICE-EDU automotive training event at the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) campus in Avondale, Arizona.

SERVICE-EDU is sponsored by Gates, MAHLE, NGK Spark Plugs and Timken, four premier OE automotive parts manufacturers that supply the aftermarket with tens of thousands of SKUs, representing 25 different types of parts in nine product categories. The SERVICE-EDU Avondale event kicks off from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 29,with dinner, orientation, networking and Bogi’s keynote presentation.

A Master technician, shop owner, writer, speaker, educator and TV personality, Lateiner is passionate about improving the reputation of the automotive industry and changing the way women in particular feel about cars and the automotive repair experience. Lateiner educates women around the country about car care basics, and teaches repair shop owners about customer service and relationship marketing. She also appears as one of three co-hosts of “All Girls Garage” on Velocity Channel. Her keynote speech will address the topic, “Not Your Father’s Auto Shop.”

Of her work in the automotive industry Lateiner explains, “Everything that I do is fueled by a passion and a love for this industry and a desire to improve our reputation, our relationship with our customers, our relationship with our teams and our quality of life as owners, technicians and service advisers.”

Each of the four manufacturers will conduct a training course from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, focused on their category of expertise. They will provide practical information on how to diagnose failures and repair them.

Registration for the two-day event is $49 and includes the four training courses, dinner Friday, breakfast and lunch Saturday, networking opportunities, educational materials, raffle prizes and a SERVICE-EDU graduation certificate upon class completion.

SERVICE-EDU is a new training program for professional automotive technicians held in partnership with the campuses of Universal Technical Institute (UTI) across the United States.
