Wagner ThermoQuiet CeramicNXT brake pads featuring Wagner OE21 formulations are the first full line of replacement ceramic pads to achieve low-copper certification, according to Federal-Mogul. Approval was provided by NSF International, an independent registrar overseeing manufacturer compliance with copper legislation. The official industry “LeafMark,” indicating compliance with 2021 legislative requirements, will now appear on Wagner ThermoQuiet CeramicNXT boxes.

With a record number of discrimination/retaliation claims filed by workers with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in 2010 and 2011, the EEOC received almost 100,000 in 2012. In December of 2012, the EEOC laid out the details of its Strategic Enforcement Plan for fiscal years 2013-’16 and identified six “national priorities” that focus enforcement efforts in the three general areas of hiring, pay and harassment.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Releases Self-Driving Vehicle Policy
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced a new policy concerning vehicle automation, including its plans for research on related safety issues and recommendations for states related to the testing, licensing and regulation of “autonomous” or “self-driving” vehicles.
AAA Goes Public With Concerns About E15
The American Automobile Association (AAA) issued a press release on Nov. 30 stating that 95 percent of consumers surveyed had not heard of E15, and only 5 percent of vehicles on the road have been approved for E15 use. The recent survey undertaken by AAA has pointed to the strong likelihood of consumer confusion, vehicle damage and voided warranties as a result of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) approval of the E15 blend of ethanol. AAA further called on regulators and the industry to stop the sale of E15 until motorists are better protected.

The states of California and Washington recently enacted legislation to limit the amount of copper and other constituents used in brake friction materials.
