One Third Of 2015 Vehicles Missing Spare Tire, AAA Reports

Automakers’ decision to eliminate the spare tire may leave more than 30 million drivers vulnerable at the roadside, according to new research from AAA. Tire inflator kits, a high-cost alternative for consumers, have replaced the spare tire in millions of vehicles over the past 10 model years and, due to their limited functionality, cannot provide even a temporary fix for many common tire-related problems.

AAAS Announces Scholarship Applications Open

The Automotive Aftermarket Association Southeast Educational Foundation (AAASEF) has announced that applications are now being accepted for the AAAS Educational Foundation Scholarships through March 31. The Foundation awarded six scholarships last year and hopes to equal or better that number this year.

AAA Goes Public With Concerns About E15

The American Automobile Association (AAA) issued a press release on Nov. 30 stating that 95 percent of consumers surveyed had not heard of E15, and only 5 percent of vehicles on the road have been approved for E15 use. The recent survey undertaken by AAA has pointed to the strong likelihood of consumer confusion, vehicle damage and voided warranties as a result of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) approval of the E15 blend of ethanol. AAA further called on regulators and the industry to stop the sale of E15 until motorists are better protected.

AAA: One in Four Americans Could Not Pay for Major Car Repair

One in four American drivers could not pay for a car repair of $2,000 if faced with one today, according to the results of a survey released by AAA. The survey also found one in eight would be unable to pay for a repair bill of $1,000.
