New Survey Finds Nearly 80 Percent Of Consumers Think Vehicle Hacking Will Be A Frequent Problem In The Near Future

The vulnerabilities of vehicle hacking have made an impression on car owners and shoppers, and nearly 80 percent say it will be a frequent problem within the next three years or less, according to a new survey by Kelley Blue Book. Awareness of the recent Jeep Cherokee hacking incident is very high, and nearly half of respondents said they will keep this event in mind when buying or leasing their next car. Moreover, the majority of consumers do not think there will ever be a permanent solution to the problem of vehicle hacking.

NACE | CARS Improves Over 2014, Eyes Bigger Growth For Anaheim In 2016

At the closing NACE | CARS press conference on July 25, Automotive Service Association (ASA) President and Executive Director Dan Risley was frank in saying he was slightly disappointed in the overall numbers, but was encouraged that there was growth over last year. Ford Issues Safety Compliance Recall In North America

Ford is issuing a safety compliance recall for approximately 8,000 vehicles in North America, including certain 2015-’16 Ford Explorer, and certain 2015 Taurus and Flex, as well as Lincoln MKS and MKT vehicles for an issue with the parking brake. In these vehicles, the parking brake might not engage fully, which is a compliance issue with FMVSS 135 regarding brake systems.
