Federated Car Care Center customers looking to grow their businesses and improve their bottom lines now have a new resource, the Federated profit seminar. This interactive business course gives its participants suggestions on how they can gain more profits and run their operations more efficiently.

Entitled “More Profits & More Cash,” the Federated profit seminar is an interactive course that instructs service technicians about increasing profitability by reviewing the processes the shop currently employs and suggesting ways those processes can be improved. The seminar delivers business strategy techniques to help cement the relationships between Federated, its Car Care Center members and the customers they serve.

“We would like to thank Essential Actions Design Group for their help in creating a dynamic business seminar to help service providers maximize profits in an innovative instructional environment,” said Mike Allen, vice president of Federated Auto Parts. “Based on the sessions already conducted, we seem to be striking a chord with our customers. The evaluations submitted following the seminars have been through the roof.”

Ryan Bickle, sales manager for longtime Federated member Warehouse Inc./S&W Supply, has already conducted a profit seminar for his customers and the results were even better than expected.

“Federated has a strong reputation for supplying its customers the most up-to-date technical training and the profit seminar is the perfect complement,” said Bickle. “The class we held for our customers was excellent and we received great feedback from the attendees. All in all, the Federated profit seminar was well prepared, contained valuable information and was very well presented.”

Comebacks are a hot topic today. You need to track
all comebacks, determine the reason (tech error, part error, training issue,
other) and then calculate the true cost of the comeback.
Here are a few things to consider:
• The loss of time when performing the comeback; time that the tech can use to
perform other work and generate profit;
• The misc costs, such as overhead costs, supplies, cleaners, etc.;
• Towing costs, rental, etc.;
• Cost to morale;
• Reputation damage; and
• Reduction to your profit margin.
For every part issue, you need to
inform your supplier. Sit down with suppliers on a regular basis. Don’t return defective
parts until you have listed the parts, and maintain a report. Document
everything.
Part issues are increasing. Every shop
owner I speak to is frustrated over this.
Remember, comebacks kill your bottom
line. The more comebacks you have, the more they’re killing your profits.
