The industry-leading MOOG steering and suspension product line from Federal-Mogul now includes 42 additional premium-quality parts covering millions of late-model foreign and domestic nameplate passenger vehicles. According to Federal-Mogul, the MOOG brand offers the aftermarket’s most comprehensive coverage of the North American vehicle population and includes hundreds of exclusive “Problem Solver” parts that are easy to install and provide superior performance and durability.

Among the latest MOOG product introductions are left and right rear sway bar link kits (K750369 and K750370, respectively) for thousands of 2009 Ford Flex and 2009-2010 Taurus and Taurus SHO models and 2009 Lincoln MKS and 2010 Lincoln MKT models. Unlike competing parts, the new MOOG sway bar links feature the brand’s patented powdered metal “gusher” bearing design, which allows grease to flow through the bearing face for smooth socket movement and superior durability.

The product line expansion also includes several new control arms, tie rod ends, control arm bushings and kits, sway bar bushing kits, additional sway bar link kits and other parts for popular late-model vehicles ranging from the Acura TSX to the Toyota RAV4. Three new MOOG control arm bushings alone cover more than 2 million Buick Rainier (2004-2007) and Chevrolet TrailBlazer (2002-2009) models. Other leading vehicle nameplates covered by the new parts are Audi, Chrysler, Dodge, Honda, Jeep, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Pontiac and Saab.

“Federal-Mogul and the MOOG brand continue to lead the industry in developing innovative, high-quality repair solutions for today’s advanced-technology steering and suspension systems,” said Mark Boyle, director, steering and suspension products, Federal-Mogul. “The MOOG brand helps service providers complete more repairs, on more applications, every day. That’s exactly the kind of business solution today’s shop owners need and expect.”

Comebacks are a hot topic today. You need to track
all comebacks, determine the reason (tech error, part error, training issue,
other) and then calculate the true cost of the comeback.
Here are a few things to consider:
• The loss of time when performing the comeback; time that the tech can use to
perform other work and generate profit;
• The misc costs, such as overhead costs, supplies, cleaners, etc.;
• Towing costs, rental, etc.;
• Cost to morale;
• Reputation damage; and
• Reduction to your profit margin.
For every part issue, you need to
inform your supplier. Sit down with suppliers on a regular basis. Don’t return defective
parts until you have listed the parts, and maintain a report. Document
everything.
Part issues are increasing. Every shop
owner I speak to is frustrated over this.
Remember, comebacks kill your bottom
line. The more comebacks you have, the more they’re killing your profits.
