The rebate applies to Bosch OE Fine Wire Iridium Spark Plugs, OE Fine Wire Double Platinum Spark Plugs and OE Fine Wire Platinum Spark Plugs purchased at participating retailers between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2013. Bosch has announced a new mail-in rebate program that offers substantial savings to customers for its OE Fine Wire family of spark plugs in 2013. The rebate applies to Bosch OE Fine Wire Iridium Spark Plugs, OE Fine Wire Double Platinum Spark Plugs and OE Fine Wire Platinum Spark Plugs purchased at participating retailers between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2013. The offer is valid for U.S. customers only.

Continuing the theme, “the Gut Knows” from Bosch’s 2012 spark plug advertising campaign, the rebate targets do-it-yourselfers.

“Customers that are looking for both high-performance and long life have an excellent opportunity to get substantial savings on OE fine wire spark plugs that offer those benefits,” said Mark Wilkinson, Group Product Manager, Spark Plugs for Bosch.

The maximum rebate per customer on the Bosch Iridium is $32 for 16 plugs; on Bosch Platinum and Bosch Double Platinum it is $16 for 16 plugs.

According to Wilkinson, “Powerful new engines, especially those that use Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) and turbochargers, require OE-specified exact ‘spark projection,’ – the exact location of the spark in the combustion chamber – and special materials, to create the best spark and optimal performance. All three spark plugs in the OE fine wire family – Bosch OE Fine Wire Iridium, OE Fine wire Platinum and OE Fine Wire Double Platinum – are designed to maintain correct spark projection for each application.”

Wilkinson added that all three types of plugs are pre-gapped to ensure the correct gap setting. Plugs that require gapping increase the risk of damaging the center electrode tip and setting the gap incorrectly.

All Bosch OE fine wire plugs are backed by both a customer satisfaction guarantee as well as the company’s Professional Technician Warranty, which covers labor/repair costs for a period of one (1) year from the date of installation when installed by a certified repair shop.

For details, download the rebate form from the following Bosch website: http://www.boschautoparts.com/Promotions/Pages/GutKnowsGoodDealPromo.aspx. Complete the rebate form and mail it along with dated receipts showing the purchase of the qualifying spark plug(s) from a participating retailer and enclose the UPC blocks from the boxes. Mail all materials to: Gut Knows Rebate, Dept. 121, Offer 35163, P.O. Box 6171, Douglas, AZ 85655-6171.

Comebacks are a hot topic today. You need to track
all comebacks, determine the reason (tech error, part error, training issue,
other) and then calculate the true cost of the comeback.
Here are a few things to consider:
• The loss of time when performing the comeback; time that the tech can use to
perform other work and generate profit;
• The misc costs, such as overhead costs, supplies, cleaners, etc.;
• Towing costs, rental, etc.;
• Cost to morale;
• Reputation damage; and
• Reduction to your profit margin.
For every part issue, you need to
inform your supplier. Sit down with suppliers on a regular basis. Don’t return defective
parts until you have listed the parts, and maintain a report. Document
everything.
Part issues are increasing. Every shop
owner I speak to is frustrated over this.
Remember, comebacks kill your bottom
line. The more comebacks you have, the more they’re killing your profits.
