ASA Mechanical Division Meets With NHTSA Administrator

On May 29, a group from the Automotive Service Association's (ASA) mechanical division leadership met with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) acting administrator to discuss the importance of vehicle safety inspection, as well as advancements in vehicle technology.

Service Association’s (ASA) mechanical division leadership met with the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) acting administrator
to discuss the importance of vehicle safety inspection, as well as advancements
in vehicle technology. During the meeting, David Friedman, NHTSA acting
administrator, acknowledged that independent repairers are a valuable source of
on-the-ground expertise and expressed interest in working directly with ASA’s
members to collect information for NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigation
(ODI).

Bob Wills, AAM, ASA’s mechanical
division director, said, “We certainly enjoyed meeting Administrator Friedman
and look forward to working closely with the NHTSA team on related issues in
the near future.”
