AMRA/MAP To Celebrate 25 Years During Industry Week

The association was organized in September 1994 as a not-for-profit trade association to represent the interests of automotive maintenance and repair providers, their suppliers and related automotive companies, and to help overcome the lack of trust between the motorist and the repair center by creating standards for recommending service.

Automotive Maintenance and Repair Association and the Motorist Assurance Program (AMRA/MAP) will be celebrating its 25th anniversary during this year’s General Membership Meeting at the 2017 Industry Week. The association was organized in September 1994 as a not-for-profit trade association to represent the interests of automotive maintenance and repair providers, their suppliers and related automotive companies, and  to help overcome the lack of trust between the motorist and the repair center by creating standards for recommending service. These standards, called the Uniform Inspection Communication Standards (UICS), are used by their members to promote a consistent message to motorists regardless of location.

Al Wheeler, chair of the board and senior vice president, Consumer Business for Advance Auto Parts, said, “AMRA/MAP is fortunate to have had a tremendous 25-year history of leaders from across industry coming together to create inspection and communication standards that foster trust between service providers and consumers. The Motorist Assurance Program (MAP) is a shining example of how we can work together collaboratively to create a better repair and maintenance experience for all consumers. While we celebrate this great accomplishment with our 24,000 member locations, we are even more excited about what we will accomplish in the next five years as we continue to evolve to better serve technicians, service consultants and business owners that face increasingly complex vehicles, their systems as well as a more educated consumer.”

AMRA is encouraging industry partners to join the association in celebrating this milestone occasion at 4 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30. During its General Membership Meeting and reception, AMRA/MAP will be celebrating the past along with giving a peek at what the future holds for the association.
